I think Apple's missing an important opportunity by not offering a smart house phone. It would be great to have my house phone tied into the Apple ecosystem with its Address Book, Notepad and other synchronization. It would also expand the ecosystem, thereby increasing the cachet of going Apple with one's electronic devices. On the other hand, 60% margins on the devices might be difficult considering the cheap alternatives.

However, it would be a completely new segment in which Apple does not yet derive profits from.

Woz thought the remote control was going to be the next big thing. Well, what if the house phone also doubled as a remote control? It could use a custom Siri interface and have us hopping around channel offerings with ease and totally ignoring those pesky numbers.
