Hey Joe, (Wow ... I need to find that Hendrix CD ...)

Well ... now you're getting into one of my favorite subjects ... management. I actually bid several contracts with Tivoli before they were bought by IBM. Cool product with some nice features. They also spent a lot of time on a good OOP architecture.
But David posted yesterday or today about what a pain it is to get working (I think ...) and I've heard that before. Oh and another one ... if it's so awesome then why would IBM use ManageWise?
========= as.ibm.com ================ IBM also announced the global offering of LAN Management Services (LMS) and a range of other product support services that are designed to help customers quickly and efficiently install, configure and migrate software on multiple platforms, including AIX, PC Clustering, S/390 IMS and advanced network environments.
Through its support of Novell NetWare* and IntranetWare*, LMS provides monitoring, problem management and server administration for LAN computing environments.
"We've worked hard to provide IBM with the necessary support, products and technologies to enable LMS to meet the current and future service requirements of our customers," said Denice Y. Gibson, senior vice president, Internet Products Group, Novell Inc. "IBM is a leader in providing LAN management services to the global market. By incorporating the functionality of Novell's ManageWise* product, LMS strengthens the IBM/Novell relationship that offers valuable managed services to Novell's growing IntranetWare* base. It also positions IBM to take advantage of the market acceptance of Novell Directory Services* (NDS)* with their recent adoption of NDS for the IBM RS/6000 and S/390 systems." ================================================================
(Just kidding, but I was impressed that they are using ManageWise!)
As for the Lotus stuff ...

Kinda useless unless you buy NT. And as soon as Microsoft wants that business do you think you'll see the Microsoft service packs start to break the web server and applications? And NT comes with a web server ... so how long till the business apps come bundled also ...
It's a tough market ...
