The problem of translating the formula, and all the questions about it, wound up yielding some interesting insights. The mystery of the .001 has been solved, and Bruce's recognition that it was really a formula based on stochastics is interesting, too. If I'd seen that right away, that there was really a formula for %K buried in that mess, I would have realized where the parentheses had to go. I couldn't see past a complicated BB formula to this underlying %K formula:

(Close - Lowest Low in %K periods)/ (Highest High in %K periods - Lowest Low in %K Periods) * 100
