Actually that honor goes to George Washington.

Historians agree that he grew the stuff on his plantation. Most claim that he was growing the stuff for the manufacture of rope.

However, the growing techniques that he used are designed to increase the THC content of the plant. These same techniques have no impact on fiber production.

The primary techinque I'm talking about is the seperation of male and female plants. The female plant produces much larger quantities of THC as long as it remains unfertalized.

These plant seperations are recorded in Washingtons diaries.
