Re -- It is in the interest of customers of Intel to do everything they can to develop alternate sources of supply.

CPQ is getting the price of components down will not result in any gains for CPQ because of DELL, IBM and HP providing the competitive forces to keep CPQ in a leash.
Thus it is not completely in the interest of customers of Intel to decrease prices.

CPQ engaging in squeezing 2nd tier customers inordinately and putting them out of business (cyrix and others), is only worse for the industry as a whole, and in a way CPQ is a destructive force in the industry.

CPQ could be trading short term gains for long term profitability.
