Eric,
Good catch, thanks. I was accounting for all the old 5% owners a few days ago. Seligman and Firstar are both gone now. My opinion is they took enormous hits. Concerning Crabbe, are analysts bound to tell the truth about their cost basis?
James Crabbe told Microsoft Investor on Jan. 22, 1998, "I also like Mylex Corporation (MYLX). They manufacture high-performance data-storage devices and network-management products. They've come out with some new products that are going to be very good, such as systems boards and personal-control devices for PCs and workstations. Over the next six months, this stock could go up quite a lot. It hit a high of $27.375 about 18 months ago. It's now about $9.50, down 65% from its high."
I've wondered and maybe some of you can share your thoughts on this, does this guy know what he's talking about? Is he talking about the same products we've been talking about or that Mylex has? I don't know.
Also, when the news on the DEC buyout came out, they probably figured they were in trouble and had better start airing this stock out to the public in hopes they could get the price up so they could unload it. Just speculation.
