[Partnership Short List]

<<<If you had to GUESS...what do you see??>>

Bob --

I don't see any reason we can't speculate. We certainly couldn't do any worse than UBS Securities or any of the other analysts who put out predictions.

Herewith my *extremely subjective* short list:

1) Siemens -- based on Europe having fewer hurdles and their stated enthusiasm at entering the ADSL market, plus the fact they're using Amati's modems already.

2) NEC --- (for ADSL) based on rumors of shipments having already been sent and the recent Sumitomo distribution agreement, plus knowledge that NTT is aggressively pursuing ADSL --- or NEC/HKT for official recognition of VDSL contract --- this based on the fact JS just returned from HK. (At least I think he's back.)

3) MCI --- based on their recent trials and over-all aggressive attitude toward the ADSL market.

4) Alcatel --- official partnership/co-production agreement.

5) Fujitsu -- they're listed as being a finalist in BT contract yet they've not announced an ADSL source. Since Amati's the best, I see no reason why they shouldn't be chosen.

Others I would expect at some point:

6) IBM --- they're bound to make in-roads into the ADSL arena eventually and Amati already has a manufacturing partnership in place for Icot business.

7) Philips --- they're in a tight race with Siemens and they're testing Amati's equipment.

8) Cisco --- someday. . .

9) GTE --- they're not on my short list primarily because I don't think they'll announce anything before May 6 when the FCC finalizes access fee and other rulings.

10) Nortel --- well, they have been demonstrating Amati's equipment and I couldn't just have a list of nine, could I? :)

Now, having said all this, I actually hope I'm wrong. I'd love to have a name come out of left field and surprise us all.

Anyone else brave enough to give their short lists?

Cheers!

Pat
