Responding to some doubts about the abilities of Golan & Globus while at Cannon Pictures (several of W.Morton's posts on the Facts thread). Firstly the Cannon Group was remarkably successful - however it was when G&G moved out of low budget movies and into higher budget movies that they ran into trouble. Post #17 on the FACTS thread is the analyst's report on MVEE - it covers a very brief history of Cannon.... [although Mr Morton has been subtly casting doubt upon Alexander,Westcott - I think we can assume that the information posted with regard to Cannon is correct] At IMDB you can find out more: us.imdb.com us.imdb.com us.imdb.com Probably not complete and some of these searches overlap too. Golan-Globus have made or rather produced some very good movies "Year Movie Award / Nomination 1985 Runaway Train Oscar 3 Nominations Golden Globe: Won I Golden Globe: 2 Nominations 1986 Lovestreams Winner. Golden Bear. Berlin Film Festival 1986 Otello Oscar I Nomination 1997 The Assault Oscar;- Winner Best Foreign Film and Golden Globe 1987 Street Smart Oscar. I Nomination Golden Globe- I Nomination 1988 A Cry in the Dark Oscar I Nomination Golden Globe: I Nomination Cannes Film Festival: Won I (source- Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences)" And also many truly appalling movies too..... And.... more anecdotally When I mentioned to a friend who used to be actress and is really into the movie business that Golan&Globus were back she said: "Wow! Those guys just have the golden touch...." She was going to call her broker in the morning.
