Ernie Banks a loser? Given the difficulty of playing shortstop and its importance as a position to a team, one can make the argument that for a five year period between 1956 and 1960, Ernie Banks was the greatest player ever for any five year period. Shortstop isn't that important a position? See what happens to a team's ERA if they put Greg Lusinski, Cecil Fielder, or Ted Klu at shortstop.
The sad thing is that at the time of his peak, only 600,000 fans a year came out to Wrigley to see Ernie play. Now four times as many come out to see this so-called dying sport.

Regards Jock

PS As a General Manager, Elgin Baylor is definitely a loser.
