I have a USR Sportster 28.8 modem purchased about two years ago. My ISP is IBM Global Network Services who are using USR x2 modems. About 50% of the time I connect to IBM, I connect at 56K.

After reading the manual, it specified that the modem will transmit at speed up to 28,800 bps with throughput to 115,200 bps(I assume this is with compression.)

I am happy about the speed of the connect. But I don't understand how I can connect at such high speed? Any ideas?

regards
