It is todays' number that I feel may be more accurate.

Whether or not the number is "more accurate" is a separate question from whether or not the number is "valid". The number may turn out to be close, but if they are just pulling these numbers out of their butt then that isn't saying much. They could have said .60 and that would have been "more accurate", and they could have -.01 and that would also have been "more accurate".
