Regarding this certification ID number, I'm not familiar with this. Do they stamp it on your forehead or right hand?
I'm going to start getting very nervous when I see the release of MS Beast 6.65.
Okay, I was only joking, but this part may bother a few people and I'll take some flak, but it's worth stepping back and thinking about:
MS is getting into the embedded market, there is experimentation going on with "embedding" microchips into people (well pets, so far) for the purposes of tracking them or identification, and we also know Gates has been trying to get into the banking world. Anyone read Revelation? I'm not certainly not implying anything, just commenting that the technology we have today is looking more and more like what I've read about end-time prophecy. And, for those like myself, who believe what the Bible says will happen, it's no stretch to assume that computers technology will be key in all of it. The question is who, and when, and exactly how.
Of course, if Gates wants control of the bulk of the embedded world, he's going to have to realize that his wonderful Windows is completely useless for the very vast majority of embedded applications. He's going to have to develop a tiny little OS and then work very hard to convince Motorola, Intel (well maybe not Intel), Hitachi, Microchip, NEC, Zilog, and others that their microcontrollers need an OS, and that they should pay Microsoft a licensing fee for each processor they sell. Or, he could just buy Motorola and make it easier on himself. As stupid as all this sounds, don't be surprized when it happens. Back in the early days, if you had told me I'd be paying over $100 for an operating system, I'd have gone ballistic, yet it's the norm today. |
