Peter,
Every year around the first week or two of October quality companies that have run into temporary problems seem to bottom out and then start to recover. In 1998 October 8 was the bottom for the market and for a lot of stocks. For example, AFCI had been around 40, ran into some temporary problems, and by October 8 was down to 4. It's now 24. SAVLY had been around 50, ran into some temporary problems, and by October 8 was down to $7.50/sh. It subsequently traded as high as 25 and has since been bought out. By the first week or two of October mutual funds have pretty much finished dumping everything they want to get rid of prior to the end of their fiscal year on October 31. At around the same time people start to look beyond any temporary problems companies might be having and they start thinking about the coming year. Stocks that have gotten very oversold but have good prospects for the coming year then start to move.

I see this same scenario about to play out for IMRS. It looks like yesterday the stock hit bottom at 7 and has now turned around. How rapid the turnaround will be I don't know; it wouldn't surprise me if there wasn't all that much movement in the very short term. However, I'm looking for big things from IMRS in 2000. I see the same scenario played out every year. Quality companies with temporary problems get way oversold in the fall and then come back strong. It's going to happen again this time with IMRS.
Byron
