Dan - more info about the Granite acquisition (from yesterday's Briefing): CISCO SYSTEMS INC. (CSCO) 53 +1/4. Networking equipment concern continue on the acquisition trail, announcing that it has acquired Granite Systems Inc., an Ethernet switch developer, for $220 million in stock. Company is keeping true to its word on making at least six acquisitions over the next 12 months as company seeks to add to its stable of companies in the routers, switches, frame-relay and remote access areas. Given that company expects the networking market to expand by 30% to 50% over the next year, company is ready to step in and acquire any concern that may add instant value to its product offerings. Latest acquisition will enable company to offer high-capacity gigabit Ethernet switch to the middle of the networking market in the first half of next year, according to company spokesperson. Expect additional deals to be conducted in the same fashion as its stock gives concern a very powerful means of fueling expansion.
