Wi-Fi, WiMedia, WiMAX,... - all of the 4g technologies (key building blocks) are coming into view. I wonder which companies will step forward to build the vision...

Some obvious early players amongst the bigs include Nokia, Microsoft, Cisco, Intel, Siemens, Intersil, Xilinx, TI, IBM, etc.

Anyone have lists of 4g players to watch and predictions of winning architectures/approaches?

Eric - Re: Siemens and Nokia on 802.16 - my impression is that there has been an effort to block mesh technologies from being included in the 2-11Ghz portion of that standard. Looking at the voting lists, it looks like the CDMA players are concerned that meshed OFDM networks are simply too great a threat to CDMA cellular WAN. I think this explains the desire to move to a HiperAccess (10-66Ghz) and HiperMAN/LAN (2-11Ghz) metro/local area networks standard. Just a theory, and it may simply be another iteration in the constant wireless political battles around standards, but that's what I'm seeing, fwiw.
