Aus, I knew that, just bustin your chops. The Japanese show has always foretold things to come in the US market. A few statements from the article worth note: No other companies had Memory Stick gear; it looks like this one will remain a "by Sony, for Sony" technology, as Panasonic's Mr. Nagasaki quipped. A major emphasis at this year's CEATEC was another form of solid state memory, called Secure Digital (SD) Memory. Almost every major company (other than Sony who is still pushing Memory Stick) had devices using SD cards. SD Memory cards showed up in color fax machines, LCD projectors, a digital still camera, digital music players and a pair of headphones with a built-in SD slot. Not surprisingly, Toshiba gave SD Memory products a big push here since it, Panasonic and SanDisk were instrumental in its development. Currently over 140 companies are part of the SD Association, a trade group backing the format. Expect an onslaught of SD Memory devices such as digital music players at CES in January. Regards Stew
