I'll repeat myself:

You said denying the Sudanese government access to the NYT might be censorship. My question is whether the Sudanese government is entitled to First Amendment rights from the NYT.

The reason behind my question is this: I agree that denying the Sudanese government access to the NYT would be censorship. But if it is not legally entitled to such access, which I am fairly certain is the case, I should think that whatever the NYT does is reflective of a calculated choice. In this case, it chose to allow what in my estimation is propaganda on the part of one of the worst violators of human rights on the globe to be placed in its pages.

If the NYT feels that it is bound to allow the Sudanese government to use its pages for propaganda, fine. I disagree with this policy choice. I would send them packing without much of a second thought, let them place their ads elsewhere.

What next? Perhaps the Russian Mafia will get some slick Madison Av. outfit to design an ad letting us know why the RM isn't so bad, just misunderstood.

I think that money spoke.

As far as the idea of a kinder, gentler Sudanese government, I think this NYT report indicating that the victims of rape who become pregnant are being imprisoned for, get this, adultery just about says all I need to know about kinder, gentler.

nytimes.com

I think implicitly defending these goons by accepting their propaganda is indefensible.
