Title: Where are the conservative journalists?
Posted By: Jim Romenesko

From PETER GOODMAN: Leaving aside the cynicism and snideness of Hugh Hewitt's piece on Columbia Journalism School, I'd like to see him speculate on just why there are no conservatives (by his lights) there. Are they intentionally rejected by the admissions committee? Do they come, spend a week and leave in despair? Are they primarily interested in the private sector, where there is far more money to be made? (I'll bet there are a whole lot of conservatives in the business school.) Is there something in the nature of "Go--See--Come Back--Tell" that is basically unappealing to the conservative mind? If one accepts the accuracy of his reporting (mustn't we be wary of anecdotal evidence?), and if the makeup of the student body is not the result of a plot, what is keeping the conservatives away?"
