Bill is one of the more thoughtful and erudite posters on SI. L/S has a very sarcastic style.....but he makes a lot of valid points..... You're still the king of apologists. All hail the king... The demise of the GOP is vastly overstated. Time will tell. I think they're making all the wrong moves right now but the macro effects of the economy will dwarf all the micro stuff we're seeing now. Americans don't want nihilism and anarchy in times of economic crisis. That's why FDR was as dominant as he was. His reelection in 1936 was an absolute route, winning all but 8 electoral votes. Obama has a chance to be a similarly dominant generational figure. The message that government is the problem just doesn't resonate in times of crisis. But like i said, time will tell. SD
