Tiger said his goal was to make no bogeys. He said he was not focused on that record. Thus, hitting the iron was the best choice for him to make no bogeys. Also maybe the one he into in the ocean on Saturday was a consideration.

Still it would have been nice to see one of those 325 yard drives and a possible putt for eagle.

Then again, maybe Mr. Woods is so far ahead of us with his gameplan that we are the ones who don't see the big picture. Maybe Tiger wants to leave a few records for next year.

The impact is bigger if you break 100 year old records rather than besting your effort from the year before.
