ATLANTA, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- VH1, an advertiser supported, basic cable service of MTV Networks, has launched its important West Coast feed to nearly 200 cable affiliates using Scientific-Atlanta's PowerVu(R) MPEG-2/DVB digital video compression system. About 2 million subscribers receive the West Coast feed of VH1's 24-hour programming which features current and classic videos, original concerts, performance series, live special events, music movies, music-based news segments, and artist interviews.
A growing number of domestic programmers are using the PowerVu system from Scientific-Atlanta, including E! Entertainment Television, The Family Channel, CBS Eye On People, FiT TV, C-SPAN, The Weather Channel, and Showtime.
