Chips have been able to maintain gains this afternoon. Leading chips include ALTR +17%, AMCC +22%, PMCS +19%, VTSS +19%....Negative comments from World Bank which has a forecast for US economy dramatically below predictions of others. Its US growth forecast is only 1.2%, down from the 3.2% forecast it made just five months ago. Forecast much lower than the 2.4% forecast by the Bush administration and the CBO. Also well below 1.9% forecast by Wall Street economists. World Bank attributed the difference to the fact that the bank's projection is more up to date, and said that others will likely revise their estimates lower soon.
