I'm amazed at your chutzpah in expecting an Ascend company representative to disclose the number of chipsets the company has received - but that's typical of your BS in any event. The man said "Ascend has already taken delivery of a *substantial quantity* of these chips and has begun production of these 56K flash memory upgradeable cards. Ascend production 56K modem cards will ship in March".

That's in the next 16 days, pal.

The man said flash-RAM chipsets, not ROM. By definition a flash memory chip is firmware upgradeable. He also said "the RAM-based Rockwell chipsets are now at Ascend, our production schedules are moving ahead as planned..."

If it's pins you're worried about it's because you're sitting on pins and needles while you pray your ill-advised and snide predictions come true. As for why an ISP might have said something that could be incorrect, well maybe it would be a good idea to check things out before you act on it - as in making posts that could well come back to haunt you. Kevin Smith's response probably has given you substantial pause, and the implications in what he said (not to mention what he didn't say) probably has upset your tummy no small amount.

What was that about "field trials...my ass!!"????
