I know Rambus a little better than CUBE even though I hold both.

Rambus has patents on the next generation memory architecture
that is target to replace DRAM. Competing technologies are
(Double Data Rate) SDRAM and couple of others. Rambus
license its technology to most major memory vendors and
collect ~2% royalty on revenue. The advantage of Rambus is
they have the backing of Intel/Microsoft and a proven product
in Nintendo 64 and SGI graphic hardware. According of info
release by Intel, Intel based computers could incorporate Rambus
technology as early as 1999. Memory vendors, mostly in Asia
are not happy that the technology is controlled by a single
company and there will be competition from different technologies.

I know CUBE makes DVD chip but the technology is beyond me.
I understand it is kind of hardware codec and a completely different
area from Rambus.

Just 0.02$ from my pocket and not Intel's.
