Dee Jay,

We all understand how badly you're smarting from the continued sell-off in Ascend. We feel your pain. However, I don't know were you get off chastising me for asking legitimate questions of someone who purportedly can provide factual information.

Also, Gary Goetz specifically asked for my TA & FA opinion on the Ascend thread, and I responded to him, and he in turn expressed his appreciation for my reply. There was nothing "evil" intended", and I currently hold no position in ASND one way or the other. I stand by everyone of my comments. I'm on the record, and six months from now we'll know who is more correct.

"Substantial quantity" is ambiguous and doesn't mean squat. Also, I didn't ask if they were firmware upgradeable - I asked if they were firmware upgradeable to the final ITU standard. RAM based doesn't mean squat of they can't be upgraded to the final standard, and we know how poorly Rockwell chipsets are designed. The fact that zero Rockwell based modems or modem cards are firmware upgradeable, and millions of USR based modems and modem cards are firmware upgradeable speaks volumes.

If it's pins you're worried about it's because you're sitting on pins and needles while you pray your ill-advised and snide predictions come true.

They are not ill-advised, nor are they snide. They are my opinions, and were advertised as that. I've done my homework, which does not include buying into all of rhetoric being spewed by Rockwell, et al. I mean, let's face it - Rockwell shareholders were penalized with a big judgement and openly chastised by a judge for their management's ill-advised and flagrantly innacurate statements while under oath. We should expect the truth when they are under no such obligation? Please!

As for why an ISP might have said something that could be incorrect, well maybe it would be a good idea to check things out before you act on it - as in making posts that could well come back to haunt you.

Maybe it's incorrect, maybe not. I posted what was said by the ISP verbatim. My comments were clearly differentiated.

Kevin Smith's response probably has given you substantial pause, and the implications in what he said (not to mention what he didn't say) probably has upset your tummy no small amount.

Dee Jay, I appreciated the comments that Mr. Smith made, and thanked him for them. That's called being gracious, something you apparently know nothing of. Nonetheless, I have learned that any and all comments from the Rockwell Consortium regarding 56k technology typically bear little resemblence to fact, and nothing said thus far has caused me to change my mind or given me any cause for concern whatsoever.

What was that about "field trials...my ass!!"????

Sorry, I lost you on that one.
