Java:
The scalability, reliability, support, performance, and security are exactly the reason that my company, like many others in the industry has sticked with SUNW, and won't change even when Win2K comes out. It has never crossed our minds to change platforms. However, I do believe the Open source model of Linux could post a thread, but that has eased that Solaris also has opened its source to non commercial users. Open standard, open API is another reason why we stick with UNIX. We know that as long as we conform with POXIS standards, we can easily port our codes to Linux, HP, SGI, DEC, IBM machines easily. For Windows developers, this luxury doesn't exist.

For at least the foreseeable future, Sun will supply some of the most reliable, fast and scaleable equipment in the industry. All backed by a world-class support organization. It's new ventures into software look very promising, however uncertain at this point. Revenue this quarter grew faster than that of IBM, or MSFT, will they be cut in half as well? Fortunately, the market values stock on future potential, not hindsight.
