When did you read the article? It was written February 7, 1999 (an update of a Friday Feb 5 article). The whole basis of the article was that the mis-steps all last week caused this. If you read about this "long ago" you read it before it happened. Say.... you don't get one of them "future" newspapers do you? Is that how you seem to do so well in options?

The AT&T breakup was different... because of their monopoly they were restricted from entering areas they wanted to enter (computers being the main one) and they agreed to be broken up so they could enter these new areas. However, their much publicized challenge to IBM's dominance failed miserably.
