Come on, James, Charles isn't a technical guy, not unless you are refering technical analysis. Give Charles some slacks. After all, when his quotes on this board made an article in CBS Market Watch this week, you got to respect what he says in here. He's a celebrity on this board.
I will try for Charles, the only comparable one I can find is: Ultra 10, 333MHz w/ 2MB ECache, 128MB RAM, PGX24 graphics, 9GB 7200RPM disk, 1.44MB floppy, 32X CD-ROM, Solaris 7 installed and a Desktop Right-To-Use (RTU) license, 19 inch monitor, $5085.
You are right, on the low end, PII are much cheaper, no argument about that.
Price a 2-way PII 450 MHZ, 128MB RAM, 19" monitor, and a graphics card capable of 6 million triangles/second (ie. Riva TNT 2) : cost ~ $ 3000.00 U.S.
Now, your homework, go price a Sun 2-way workstation; it won't have the same CPU power or graphics capability ... but price it and report the $ difference in cost.
