Claude -

Internally NCR is migrating all their Oracle Applications to Sun Hardware. This is a fact and indicative that the PC Platform scales better in peoples imagination than in the data center - gee boss, we lost all the data, the PC er.. PC Platform crashed!

NCR is getting out of the box business and has outsourced production of their hardware but still put the NCR label on them - its becoming less and less an important part of their business. If their Intel based hardware was so good they wouldnt be writing a check to Sun to buy their servers.

as far as your claim that you have seen dual pentium data warehouses serving 3-400 concurrent users - your mistaken. Databases like Terradata, Oracle and Informix cant run more than a few multiple queries streams at any one time without choking.
