I haven't finished reading the book yet, but from what I have read the proposed merger is a good thing. Did anyone catch the uncharacteristically positive reference on page 109 (first paragraph) that states: "Although Global Crossing believes that such other cable systems will not satisfy the demand for capacity between the United States and Japan and that there is currently enough demand projected to accommodate all such systems . . .” This is a departure of the demure comments offered by management in past SEC filings
