<< It is preposterous to think that the Relatives have any standing that supercedes the right of his father. >>

The rights of what father? In Cuba, the government owns all children. It is written in their laws.

What you are doing is supporting the Cuban governments ownership and abuse of all Cuban children. In effect, you are saying, let's return Elian to the ownership of the Cuban government, where he belongs.

The wonderful Miami Cuban Exile Family tried to save Elian from a life of abuse at the hands of the Cuban government. Thru their efforts, they tried to heal Elian's mental and physical wounds, from his horrible ordeal of fleeing Castro's abusive government.

Now, their wonderful efforts may be in vain.
