Solyndra's initial funding occurred during the previous administration. They had no better crystal ball than the current one.

The usual ratio of startup success:failure is something like 1:20, regardless of the industry.

Also, there are plenty of small cap e&p's that have gone belly-up over the past 20 years that received the usual government subsidies (manufacturing tax credit, etc). That doesn't mean that their funding was purely political.

Some gov. tax incentives went to FSLR, who turned a profit of >1bill last year and employs >6000. So for every solyndra, I can name a FSRL. It proves nothing about the stimulus money, except "results will vary".
