RESEARCH ALERT - Ascend (NASDAQ:ASND) downgraded Reuters, Tuesday, September 30, 1997 at 09:51 NEW YORK, Sept 30 (Reuter) - Morgan Stanley Dean Witter lowered its rating on Ascend Communications Inc to outperform from strong buy, the Wall Street firm said on Tuesday. -- Ascend's forecasted third-quarter earnings were well short of Morgan Stanley's forecast of $0.33 per share. -- Morgan said in a research note that it is lowering its third quarter estimate to $0.18. -- The new target price was $45. -- Ascend was down four to 31-1/4 in early trading.
