this is true, SMT manufacturing is a premium now. they are charging extra bucks for SMT boards.
cpq has excellent SMT and pinoneered SMT in pc industry.
HP and IBM did some but they went so slow that at one time cpq had more SMT boards per month than all the other mfg'ers put together
