Found it.- MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA, 1997 MAR 14 (NB) -- US Robotics [NASDAQ:USRX] may be about to subsumed by networking giant 3Com [NASDAQ:COMS], if their mooted merger is approved, but it is pushing ahead with an independent presence in Australia.
The company best known for its modem technology and handheld Pilot organizer yesterday announced establishment of an Australian operation with a head office in Melbourne; 3Com headquarters is in Sydney.
The move follows US Robotics's acquisition of its Melbourne-based distributor Modem Connections. The Down Under office will handle sales, marketing and support for US Robotics modems, organizers, remote access servers and LAN switching gear, according to a press statement.
Managing director is Denis Rosler, who said new distributors and channel partners were being appointed, including Tech Pacific, Production Audio and Teksel.
In the US, USR's President John Macartney said Australia was seen as an important market for fuelling growth in Asia and the Pacific Rim. |
