Neither party has ever really believed in reducing government - running the government is the only way they get to play Washington Big Shot every few years. It's just a petty dispute over where to spend the money and where you send the army for its next limited conflict. That's why partisan loyalties are a joke, a sucker's game for sheep who actually believe in these politicians.
