In 2017, I drove from Canada down to Tucson and then south to Sayulita, Mexico. While staying at a charming little bed and breakfast, I met a “woke” family from Oregon whose kid was always wearing a Che Guevara T-shirt.

We all had breakfast together, and when they found out I was from Canada, they immediately started apologizing for Donald Trump. I told them, “I like Donald Trump.” After that, they avoided me, which was perfectly fine by me.

A similar thing happened on Granville Island, and once again, the people were from Oregon.
