Sam, I can use capital loss carry forwards against capital gains. I cannot use those loses against other forms of income. Trust me - I know this game - I work hard to capital losses by switching from one company to another within and industry - say Exxon to Chevron (I tell my wife even that is unfair to those who cannot play with capital). If GE Capital lost money - then perhaps the loses should only go against gains in GE Capital.

The point of this is simple - all groups should be treated equally - not some targeted and some favored.

We are now talking about tax fairness - fairness issues should be applied consistently across the whole economic spectrum. I see little fairness in picking out demons and making them unfair.

I am unable to find a listing of the largest corporate tax payers. If anyone can find that I would appreciate the info. I suspect Exxon and Chevron would amongst the largest - but that is a guess.

Bob
