Hi P (still can't get myself to call someone a pervert, except face to face) <ggg> re: "Thanks for the revelation that SUNW will be running on the INTC 64-bit microprocessor. I
never would have quessed it."

One point of clarification and maybe you and Brian already know this: SUNW has announced they would support running of their version of UNIX, called Solaris, on Merced. They said they had no plans now to put Merced chips into any of their own workstations or servers (to this someone said "yeah, right"). They would therefore continue to use their proprietary SPARC chips in their servers. The upshot of this will be that customers that want to stay with Solaris will have an option of running it on either a SUNW machine or an HWP or CPQ or IBM or DELL or Fujitsu or DEC or UIS or NCR and on and on. Got to believe the SUNW platform will be the most expensive.

Regards,

Tony
