Once the US invented the atomic bomb and used it to fight a dangerous enemy, it was only a matter of time before the rest of the world got its hands on one. No one is to blame but rest assured, you or Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney can not stop progress.

We don't have to make it easy for them. If they need a nuclear facility to produce Plutonium, we can destroy that facility if they are unwilling to cooperate.

There is also the issue of who possesses these weapons. It is one thing for Iraq, Iran, Syria, or NK to have it -- it is a totally different thing if Great Britain wants to have it. We should not allow any nation that is a dictatorship to develop new nuclear weapons; and we should do all we can to stop it.

It is necessary for us to make case-by-case judgments about who we will allow to possess these weapons. We may prefer that Pakistan not have one, but be unwilling to use military force to insure it. At the same time, we may well judge that NK warrants the use of military force. And that Iraq warrants the use of military force to provide assurance.

The notion that foreign policy is a simple thing where we deal with different nations "fairly" is a crock.
