The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE) and the U.S. Coast Guard released its final report this week on the investigation of the fatal Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill.

The new regulations generated from the report won’t likely slowdown the permitting process and could actually benefit some companies in the oil industry, according to analysts at Barclays Capital. Cameron International Corp. CAM and National Oilwell Varco Inc. NOV, major providers of new blowout preventers (BOP), BOP upgrades and BOP aftermarket services, are the primary beneficiaries of increased safety standards, they said in a note issued Thursday.

“While we believe operators will continue to increase safety standards even without formal regulations requiring it, stricter safety regulations in the [Gulf of Mexico] could further drive BOP upgrades and aftermarket services at the margin,” Barclays Capital analysts said.<snip
