Some students at UCB are unhappy with some of the sources of funding for the Berkeley Center for Middle Eastern Studies---claiming that Saudis linked to terrorism are providing funding. I don't have a link to the original article printed by the students, but I have a link to this response in the Daily Californian. I would guess most college Middle Eastern Studies departments have an anti-Israeli bias, simply due to the fact that the majority of faculty and students in those departments are generally of Arab descent. I know it was that way at my college. By the time I finished one Middle Eastern studies history course, I was pretty anti-Israel. I still remember coming home for spring break, thirty years ago, and telling my folks how I had it all figured out why Israel was at fault for many of the problems in the Middle East. It is amazing how easy it is for college professors to influence your thought when you are only nineteen years old.
