The area that is being offered this new service covers all the high rise apartment complexes as well as down town Chicago. It's very populated . Were I live in Chicago with homes being 15 feet apart I see my chances of ever getting this type of service is slim and none. Most probably for me to get this they would have to by pass 300 homes to get to me. This has always and will remain the biggest problem with " The Last Mile ". It's a simple matter of economics to the providers stringing the wires. In rural areas the problem also arises of a storm taking down wires and I read an article how hunters also contribute by damaging systems with shot gun pellets. Many rural areas and even areas such as I live in may well be served by using the fixed WWL as a solution for the last mile. I have suggested in other forums the willingness to give up my copper line for voice and use it for data only and have a wireless phone for voice. This article suggests that many are already using wireless for their voice line.
