There is a big difference between engagement and military domination. The longer we stay there the more dissent on the Arab streets. We take over Iraq we'll be there for decades. Very tricky dangerous manoevre. And what is the endgame? Is there one? Put back the Shah and the King Of Iraq? Maybe it will work for awhile but longer-term we will always be the ugly American imperialists there for one purpose, to fuel our big gasoline engines. Also there's the Israel issue. Whew. A real Pandora's Box. I was so hopeful when Clinton seemed to finally make peace over there. But now we are so far away from that it's ridiculous. Not blaming America, the Hamas types and Bin Lauden are the ones who shattered the peace first, but if we go in with a big stick we need a big carrot too. And an exit strategy baed on the gradual replacement of oil. If we dont replace oil we will be slaves to it all our lives, in the process creating more pollution, geo-olitical quagmires and wasting precious time.
