Hi James, did you know that God didn't give us The Bible as a science book. He gave us The bible to helps us know the way to life with Him atter death. All of the OT was designed to teach us that our righteousness is not as good as His and something needed to be done about it. Not only did something need to be done, He was giving us signs that it was sin that brought death, both physical and spiritual. He is telling us about a coming sacrifice, His Son, who would pay the price to release us from the consequences of that sin. You see, we couldn't provide a perfect sacrifice because all humans are polluted with sin, making us ineligible for sacrifice. On the other hand, The Son was a perfect sacrifice because He had no sin. For reasons no one will understand until we get to heaven, God The Father required perfection to cover sin and set us free from its results. Here is a Scripture about pleasing God, " Heb 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him." You see God requires faith, not proof. The Bible says, "Prov 14:12 There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death." You see, this is man's logic/reasoning, but God created this world and He expects faith, not proof.

Listen to what He says about man's knowledge in trying to gain salvation(know God),
"1 Cor 1:20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?
1 Cor 1:21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe."

God is simply saying that through the wisdom of the world man doesn't come to know God. One comes to know God through the preaching of The Gospel, which is foolishness to the worldy minded, because they must believe something they cannot prove.

Now a play on words. You've heard this, "The proof of the pudding is in the eating" , well, the proof of the Gospel is in the faithing. Faith is an active thing that must be exercised.

May God grant unto you His enduring love and mercy in Christ Jesus.

Faith on Him, He'll respond in your favor.

David
