"Intel got the gold mine and DEC got the shaft" And Palmer got to sell the rest of DEC to Compaq and got his golden parachute. That was the whole point. Probably got a bonus, to boot. Never discount these very important points... No doubt Palmer did like a CEO I know and sent an e-mail to all the employees detailing how it was their fault the company got bought out...
