with all due respect you have little comprehension of the business Ascend is in, IMO. You're too focussed in the one area and you need to see the larger picture where Ascend is involved.

If you think that 56K modems and their potential represent **the most significant** portion of Ascend's business you are barking up the wrong tree, Hassell. In the WAN business there is far more involved than analog modems; in fact, analog modems are diminishing in importance every day. Not to USRX of course, because so much of their business is with the retail customer (consumer-oriented). Of course Ascend will offer the 56K cards because it is an important market segment but that's what it is - a segment.

The migration path is clearly aimed towards the xDSLs, with IDSL and SDSL (HDSL by another name) of increasing importance.

Please do some research before you take yourself too far out on a limb,OK?
