Anyone see R. Rubin talking about Asia on CSPAN tonight or was everyone too busy watching the Superbowl? He seemed quite knowledgeable and commited to correcting the problems there. Seemed upbeat, positive, and seemed to imply that big wheels were turning working on the problem. No real breakthrough answers. Acknowledged that it is difficult to get agreemnet and action from so many independent nations.

With the Golbal economy we are in and the loans and investments from Europe and the US, a complete meltdown in Asia does not seem to be in the best business interests of the 'Big' global money. My opinion is that any further breakdown will cause long lasting damage to the area and their ability to pay back the loans and make money for those who have invested (foreign direct)in the area. The last thing a mortage lender wants is for a home to go into foreclosure. They just want the homeowner to keep on paying his loan. In the same way what would these banks do with a manufacturing company in Thailand of Indonesia. Selling these assets into an depressed market would bring next to nothing. I would say that there are a lot of desparate 'suits' paddling like hell to keep Asia afloat so they can get their money back. Rubin would be the man to make it happen and it seems like he is in the thick of it.

Here's Hoping
