It seems to me that Mr. Grove had an axe to grind by pooh-poohing the
short-term efficacy of cable modems, as this is likely to be a major
technology enabler for Oracle's Network Computer (NC), Sun's Java
applets and Netscape's view of network-centric computing.

The longer it takes to speed up the transmission for NCs, the more
entrenched the Wintel formula is likely to be....so Mr. Grove's
comments are not entirely objective in my opinion.

Any views? (But I'm still holding on to my Intel stock for more
fundamental reasons...I think it is likely to see a hockey stick effect
in the days ahead).
