That was very ill-advised, and I bet a cup of coffee that if she caught and shot the man, she has been charged. In general, it is a very bad idea to shoot people even if they deserve it. You can't do it after they assault you; you have to do it while they are assaulting you, and you have to be in fear for your life. Otherwise, you will pay dearly.
Shooting a person is one of the least desirable means of resolving confrontations. I would rather run, take a different route, hide--anything--rather than shoot an attacker. However, when the choice goes down to him or me, I prefer to be judged by twelve rather than carried by six.
I've killed big game animals, not a lot but maybe fifteen or so counting all the deer, elk and bear. I never do it without a twinge of regret for the animal, but I consider it to be a natural function of life to kill for food.
Killing a person is repugnant to me, and should be to every law abiding gun owner. There is no honor in it, unless you save someone else's life. Anybody who thinks killing is a macho or laudable thing to do should do some serious self-analysis and repent.

Dave, what do you think about the woman who complained to the police about being confronted at 4am, then loaded up with a .357 went out at 5:30 hunting for the dude, and shot him... |
